DO NOT USE THIS BRAIN
From the age of 4, when Christine Zukowski watched Nancy Kerrigan, Oksana Baiul and Tonya Harding compete in the 1994 Olympics, the answer has always been an unwavering yes. Unwavering, despite a non-stop schedule that starts with 4 hours of practice daily and requires home schooling rather than a normal high school life.
$35,000/year. Plus more for ice time. I promise I will never bitch about the cost of ballet lessons.

I have friends who pay that much for their daughter’s skating here where Oxana Baiul and Victor Petrenko train in Simsbury CT. I also know homeschoolers who fork over a good amount of money for olympic luge as well as another homeschooling parent whose kids train in gymnastics. The freedom to pursue a dream is part of the reason they homeschool. so what’s your point ? parents choose to make sacrifices for their kids and some of that includes financial sacrifice. I don’t think its abnormal. In fact it isn’t any different than going into debt to send your kid off to college. |

Relax Judy. The title is a line from “Young Frankenstein.” and was on the jar for an abnormal brain. Igor (pronounced “eye-gor”) thought it came from a man named A. B. Normal. The comment was aimed at the reporter who referred to a “normal high school life.” The cost for the skating was unrelated to the “abnormal” part. |
