I’m sure there’s a perfectly good scientific reason for making luminescent green pigs. But even if there were no good reason at all, it would still ROCK. |

I dunno, Valerie. There’s something about eating green meat that just doesn’t seem right (no offense to Dr. Seuss fans intended). And GLOWING meat? Chernobyl anyone? |

The pigs are intended as research animals. Cells taken from these pigs retain their green coloring, and so researchers can locate and identify pig cells in a mix of other cells. Pig cells are valuable in medical research because they react in ways very similar to human cells. Sorry I can’t be more clear on this, but I’m sure the info is out there on the Net. |
