CONGRATS, KATELYN!
Katelyn has been dreaming of attending the North Carolina School of the Arts since before we moved here. Yesterday, she took her first step on that path, successfully auditioning for their competitive Summer Intensive program.
I’m not sure I want her leaving home at the age of 14, but I guess kids (especially dancers) grow up earlier than they used to.

I think I need to set up a filter in my router to block all web searches with the worlds equestrian and school. I don’t want Delaney getting any ideas 😉 Congrats. |

If she does get in to the NCSA high school program, I’ll have to resign my position as home education gadfly as we’ll have one g-schooler. 🙂 It really is a terrific program. The dancers train a minimum of 5 hours/day 6 days/week. Katelyn’s instructor in DE went to the NCSA college program on scholarship. She then went on to study at Joffrey. Like I said– good training. |

So then I can I can write a long winded rant about how you sold out your child for a shot at a scholarship 😉 |

Yeah, but we haven’t sold out yet. The summer program costs $500/wk. |

Just out of curiosity – I looked up a couple of prep schools with nationally ranked equestrian programs. $40K a year is about average. Me thinks she’ll be living at home until she is ready to fly the coop on her own! |

You won’t have to resign — the personal experience will add depth to your complaints! |

Congratulations to all involved. Only a small mind would expect you to deny your daughter this opportunity, Daryl, based on the label on the building. I haven’t noticed tooooo many small minds around here. Gadfly away! 🙂 Nance |

I don’t think you’ve sold out. It’s very unlikey she’d have gotten to this point if you hadn’t homeschooled. You’ve enabled her to follow her dreams. Isn’t that why we homeschool? |

How wonderful! Of course, you know you aren’t a proper homeschooler if you let her leave home or grow up fast — you know we all do this to shelter our kids and keep them at home as long as possible!!! |
