They’d have to scrub the entire website if you want them to eliminate every use of “homeschool” in this context. Nance |

The articles in question are being revamped. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. (That’s legalweaselspeak for “Fixin’ it now!”) |

No doubt the wheels of the big, clumsly machine turn ever so slowly. |

The article’s title has finally changed to: Still a confusing article though since they flip between referring to these programs as ” government homeschool programs” to “Virtual Charter Schools” Why can’t they just refer to it as it is: At least their conclusion is clearer: But why did they put that “begins” in there? When the government controls and operates homeschool programs, it ruins them. |

“Why can’t they just refer to it as it as government school at home?” This would distinguish it from private school at home too, and from free lance school at home. And from us unschoolers, who are home but don’t school at all. So, would that about cover all the orders and families within the class “Homeschooloid Rambunctious”? Seems to me sciencey types among us could agree to one defensible, rational, politically neutral classification and nomenclature system, if we were of a mind to . . .it would be fun figuring it out anyway! (Young Son and I were having great fun with monotrome echidnas this morning, how they lay eggs and have spikes instead of hair but but are mammals, and then we got onto mammalian marine life” and how polar bears are both alike and different from manatees, etc.) |

I repeated one link inadvertently above – meant to offer this wikipedia piece on scientific classification. |
