Oh, noes! All of the pastors are heading directly to jail because the Dems have finally passed the hate crimes bill. ONN is not happy.

I guess the preachers preaching hate will have to depend on their god to protect them. Or not. As the mood strikes him.

Favorite Daughter has a good “civility” clause in her FSU Shakespeare course syllabus this year. I just saw it because she left it on the kitchen table where she was working on her term paper:

I will tolerate neither disputive language nor disruptive behavior. Disruptive language includes but is not limited to, violent and/or belligerent and/or insulting remarks including sexist, racist, homophobic or or anti-ethnic slurs, bigotry and disparaging commentary either spoken or written (offensive slang is included in this category.)

While I do not disagree that you each have a right to your own opinions, inflammatory language founded in ignorance or hate is unacceptable and will be dealt with immediately. DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR INCLUDES THE USE OF CELL PHONES AND ANY OTHER FORM OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DURING THE CLASS SESSION, especially including iPod or MP3 players.

Disruptive behavior also includes whispering or talking when another member of the class is speaking or engaged in relevant consevration (remember I am a member of this class as well.) This classroom functions on the premise of RESPECT and you will be asked to leave the classrrrom if you violate any part of this statement of civility.

They’d have to close the churches! 😉

Of course the preachers are willfully ignoring the clauses that were put into the legislation to remind us all that freedom of speech does in fact still exist and still remains available to us all. Odd that defenders of the faith so often have to resort to lies.

But that’s how it is whenever opponents of equality insist on starting a fight that need not exist. They can’t come up with anything honest to say to make their points, because if they were honest they wouldn’t be able to insist they aren’t bigots. So they lie about what it really means when gay people get that much closer to full civil equality.

Again and again. You’d think there would be a rule against that. . .
