This is just so bad on so many levels. I’m not going to excerpt it. You’ll have to click over.

Be warned- it involves sex acts in a kindergarten classroom.

OK I’m hyperventilating. FIVE YEAR OLDS AREN’T SUPPOSED TO DO THIS. THEY AREN’T SUPPOSED TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

    Actually, I’m not terribly surprised…

School in our district starts the year the kids turn four, which means my son was actually three when a 5yo kid on his school bus told him that girls put boy’s you-know-what in their mouths and that’s how they make babies.
My son came home and explained this fascinating news to us, and also told us that the kids on his school bus were showing each other their undies. (This was a kindergarten bus, so they ranged in age from 3-5.)
I took him to school the next morning and talked to his teacher. She immediately started a classroom project on “personal privacy” and “don’t touch/don’t show zones”. We also had a word with the bus driver, who promised to keep a sharper eye on the kids, and who made the little ring leader sit up next to him.
The school contacted his mother, and it came out that he had two teenaged brothers who were not watching their language or behavior around the little guy.

So, basically, that cleared up the inappropriate behavior for us.

Of course, this wasn’t nearly as serious as the stuff described in the news article, and I’m very concerned about a class in which children can do this and not be noticed. That teacher needs an aide, at the very least. My son’s class always had at least two adults (a teacher and a parent-volunteer, and sometimes a student-teacher as well). I don’t think you can safely leave 25 five year olds in a single adult’s care all day.

Unfortunately, when kids are in public school there’s always a chance they’ll meet up with a kid like this, who is acting in inappropriate and disturbing ways.

Mind you, school isn’t only place where this is an issue. The ten year old boy on our block was convincing the younger kids to pull down their pants last summer – I was NOT happy about that and let them all hear about it.
