Why the Mayor of NO did not issue a mandatory evacuation earlier is not known. NO was declared a disaster area *before* it was evacuated. It was evacuated too late. Bush personally appealed to the LA govenor to order an evacuation. Remember, the federal government is not responsible for our lives. We are. If you are too poor to leave a city that is threatened by a hurricane, you should not live in a city that is below sea level. If you rely on the government for your life, you are in a bad place. And most survival plans recommend having a weeks supply of food and water. |
