From: “‘Also dumb people have many more children than smart people do. …’ This Ph.D. chemist just doesn’t understand the attitude here. Perhaps I’ll ask my lovely homeschooling wife, the mother of our four children, and a holder of a Master’s degree in Experimental Neuropsychology to explain it to me.” Daryl, I want to know, was your wife able to explain it to you? I think there are dozens, maybe hundreds of factors that influence the decision to have children. At one level some people can’t have children. I think I heard the number was like one in ten men have bad sperm. Many people have bought into the over population scare even though most of the civilized nations are imploding, the United States being one of the few exceptions. (Interesting tidbit, with the current trends the United States will have more people than China around 2050 to 2060. This is the result of China’s one child per family policy.) I think one of the main factors in the decision process is more character related than intelligence. Being a parent is a lot of work. Heavy emphasis on work. Some people decide not to have children because it is a lot of work. |
