Scott Somerville, who duties at HSLDA aren’t keeping him busy enough (See? We’ve said all along that there was no need for that organization.), has decided to hang his shingle hat here at HE&OS for a while longer.

May I point out that it IS July, Daryl? Most schools take a little thing called “summer vacation” about now. So do the truant officers! |

Did I really need to put a smiley on that one? Sadly, summer is nearly over for some kids. Last year(?), schools in Atlanta started the last week of July. It was an attempt to game the state testing system, which has fixed dates. The educrats figured that starting a month earlier would help their scores. Last I heard, the legislature was none too pleased and was going to fix the problem. I don’t know if they ever did. |

Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtin did a spoof of the even older James Kirkpatrick/Shana Alexander series “Point/Counterpoint” on “60 Minutes.” Alexander and Curtin were the liberal voices. Akroyd invariably yelled “Jane, you ignorant slut!” at the start of his rebuttal. In the HE&OS version of this skit, I’m Jane. |
