SAME SEX MARRIAGE 4 EVER?
It appears that a proposed MA constitutional amendment to ban SSM there is dead. This whole issue is really frustrating. It’s coming. To all 50 states eventually. And those backwards states which are passing constitutional amendments prohibiting SSM are eventually just going to have to go through the effort to repeal them.

Whether you love a man or a woman, opposite or the same sex – you should be entitled to the same rights. Why should we discriminate against people just because they are born differently than us? Love is beautiful, and if you’re lucky enough to have found love – then you should be free to love freely and get married if you so choose. |

Unfortunately, it’s not dead in MA. It’s just deferred for now so that it won’t make it as a referendum item in 2008. The state legislature will be voting on this topic over and over again. At some point, I’m afraid the “yes” vote for a referendum will win, it will go to the voters, and the voters will approve a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman. The voters may actually vote yes for civil unions, unlinke in most other states, but that would be a major step backwards for Mass. We’re going to be hearing about it forever here. |

Except that every year it’s put off, is another year of education for those folks who grew up thinking that no one they knew was gay, and another year to get comfortable with the whole idea. So postponing any vote as long as possible can only be a good thing. |

And this has what to do with homeschooling? Pardon me….your hypocrisy is showing. Isn’t this what you criticize HSLDA for? (not that they don’t deserve it a lot) |

You must be new here. HE&OS– Home Education & Other Stuff I’m pretty sure that same sex marriage falls into the latter category. There are a few topics that pop up on a recurring basis that have nothing to do with home education. Among these are same sex marriage, the idiocy of Young Earth Creationism, politics (during the silly season) and probably one or two others. My blog, my call. When I start lobbying Congress and sending out e-Lerts telling folks that defeating this constitutional amendment in MA is necessary to “save” traditional marriage and homeschooling, you’ll have a legitimate point. |
