ON PALIN
After thinking about this for a day, I believe McCain’s choice of Palin is evidence that the moneyboys who own the GOP are conceding the election this year. There’s absolutely no question that Palin isn’t ready for prime time. But, by putting her on the ticket this year, they can set her up for a run in 2016 (assuming she’s not impeached in AK in ’09).

This one’s pretty good, too. At this point I have to agree that McCain’s judgment and impulse control must be seriously in doubt. |

The only plausible explanation I can think of for choosing her is to try to win over some of the hardcore Hillary supporters who felt slighted by the outcome of the primary. But even that is really short-sighted. Most of the Hillary-ites have already decided to back Obama. I doubt that there are many who would switch sides just because the GOP has a female on the ticket. After all, they didn’t just want a woman in the White House, they wanted a specific woman in the White House (and not as VP either). |
